Balmain Spring 2012 Ready-to-Wear

Oliver Roustenig is only 20 something years old and already the head designer of a major fashion label- Balmain.
The collection is elegant with a hint of edginess from the gold accents to the black leather. I think Roustenig, despite the critics, is doing a good job keeping up with Balmain's prestigious title.

Chanel Pre-Fall 2012

The Chanel Pre-Fall 2012 collection was by far my favorite collection I've ever seen on the runway. I loved the urban Bollywood style matched with dread locks and nose rings. It was beautiful, daring, urban chic, and unexpected for a Chanel collection. It all worked so well together and effortlessly at that. The chic runway design and playlist ['Good Day Today' by David Lynch was my favorite] also helped portray the theme's collection perfectly. Although it was very hip and fun, I liked that Lagerfeld still incorporated the classic Chanel tweed looks.

Givenchy Haute Couture//Spring 2012

Let me just start off by saying this collection is pure P E R F E C T I O N. The accessories are beautiful, the draping/structure/textures of each piece is truly inspirational too. Riccardo Tisci never ceases to amaze me.. //

"During the 60s’ and 70s’ former president of Yugoslavia, Tito wanted to show the world the strength and con­fi­dence of the Social­ist Repub­lic by having sculptors and architects building those (very futuristic) monuments com­mem­o­rat­ing the Sec­ond World War. This series entitled Spomenik was photographed by Jan Kempenaers. Today these sculp­tures now in ruins are located in Croa­tia, Ser­bia, Slove­nia and Bosnia." -Cyril Foiret

I believe that fashion, music, visual art, and even architecture are frequently overlapped and very similar to each other. Its truly inspiring to think that humans created these sculptures and buildings. It's especially eye opening to see how modern these look, and yet they were made in the 60s and 70s. I enjoy researching modern architecture.
